FF Poetry Contest Rules

Send up to ten (5) poems with a 10 credit entry fee for each.
 
Poems may be rhymed or free verse, up to sixty (100) lines.

Poems will be judged on literary merit.

Poems are judged based on originality, creativity,  and artistic quality.  Poems not meeting the requirements for line limitation are automatically disqualified.

Entries must be original poems about expression of love.


DEADLINE: All poems must be received no later than March 29, 2007.
Winners will be announced publicly on May 5th, 2007 at 7PM Eastern time USA.

Rewards is as follows:
First prize- will hold a FF poetry contest award to display in your FF profile,
+1 karma for the participation, and 1000 credits from me.
Added: The winner will receive real money 5$ to there paypal account.
Runner ups- +1 karma for all participants

find I question my life
How I went wrong,

Growing up in the hood as a hard knock
I never knew nothing too much about young
My only concern was making my money and running these streets as a thug
Instead of the birds and bees, I always talk to murderers and the G's
That coldness inside me, but I ain't trying to hurt nobody
Temptation is keeping me steadily going under
And I wonder, if I could make it through the thunder
Cause I done caused so much hurt and pain to some that ain't deserve a thang
If I could change that, it would all be rearranged
But what's done is done and I paid the price
and now I'm like, Help me Lord, to better my life, my life
Just give me the chance to prove the world that I can be the man that I am
And I plan, on keeping it realer, really slow and steady

So now I'm headed to the chapel and I'm fin' to try marriage
It's goin' down yeah, yeah, yeah, but what do ya know?
Who woulda knew that would make situations worse
And my curse, nothing I've tried seems to work
And I drop to my knees and I pray, yes I pray
And I wonder if I'll ever see a better day (I need a better day)
I've seen much in my time and I think it was too much for my eyes
The wickedness pulling me closer to failure everytime I think I'm rising, yeah
But you live and you learn and try to make better, gotta get control

The One That I Can't Have

How could I have ever believed
that what you say you feel for me is true.
How could I be so stupid
to care for you the way that I do.
You say I am free
to go whenever I want to leave,
so, why did you try so hard
to make my heart believe?

You take my hand and hold me so close
that I never want you to go
but then you loosen your grip
and remind my heart that you cannot love me so.
You're constantly playing hurtful games
with my feelings, heart and mind
by telling me that one day it may happen,
just give it a little time.

Does the tearing of my broken heart
put a smile upon your face?
Because you know when I close my eyes
your smile I can't erase.
I've tried to stop thinking of you
and push you out of my head
but you return to me with a surprise, "hello"
and I fall for you instead.

Why do you hold on to me
when you know that 'we' can't be?
Why can't you just turn away
and tell me that you don't love me?
I know I'm playing the fool
for sticking around to wait for you
but I just can't help but wonder
if you feel the way I do.

Do you think I'll be around
and wait for you forever
until the day you decide
that we can be together?
I don't know how much longer
these feelings for you will last
but from the aching in my heart,
I hope it changes fast.

I want you so much more
than words could ever say
but I try to hide what I feel inside,
hoping you'll go away.
I wish I would never have kissed your lips
on that very first night
because, then, I wouldn't reminisce
about the way you held me tight.

I wish I had never looked into your eyes
and seen the wonderful you
because now I look but cannot touch
and there's nothing I can do.
The times I see you riding by
with your girlfriend in the car
I can't believe I'm still around
when I know where it is you are.

You're not with me, you still love her
and nothing's going to change.
I guess I'm just going to be the losing one
who's left standing in the rain.
I know I can't complain
because I'm letting it go on.
You're just doing what any guy would do
and having a little fun.

Why not have me on the side
when I'm willing to keep things low.
You can call me up on a late night creep
and no one will ever know.
I guess that's the way you've wanted it all
when we started everything,
just a fling on the side that makes you laugh,
but doesn't require anything.

If only someone would tell me the things
I'm supposed to do
but no one even knows of us,
so there's no one I can turn to.
I should turn around and walk away
from all this crazy mess
and leave you alone to be with your girl
and stop settling for less.

I'm starting to clearly understand
the intentions behind your smile.
You just want to keep me around to play
with my heart for awhile.
Maybe this whole thing is a game to you
that you enjoy to play
but I have to protect my heart,
and if you don't care then... please just go away.

My second poetry!

The sea is calm to-night,
The tide is full, the moon lies fair
Upon the straits, - on the French coast the light
Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand,
Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.
Come to the window, sweet is the night-air!
Only, from the long line of spray
Where the sea meets the moon-blanch'd land,
Listen! you hear the grating roar
Of pebbles which the waves draw back, and fling,
At their return, up the high strand,
Begin, and cease, and then again begin,
With tremulous cadence slow, and bring
The eternal note of sadness in.

Sophocles long ago
Heard it on the Aegean, and it brought
Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow
Of human misery; we
Find also in the sound a thought,
Hearing it by this distant northern sea.
The sea of faith
Was once, too, at the full, and round earth's shore
Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furl'd.
But now I only hear
Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,
Retreating, to the breath
Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear
And naked shingles of the world.

Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain

my entry one.. Tittle: Truth about Love..

Love is indeed

a word

worn out

of use,

what most

of us think

(admit it or not)

is that

whenever we feel that

"KILLIG FACTOR" means

we love

the person already,

And thats is

the major reason

why most of us

fail the relationship

we've made

with the person we

'love'.

We should not relay

solely by sparks

and magical feelings

cause loving someone

isn't always about

fairly tales and

fantasies,

its about truth and reality..

My 4th Poem! 

   My best friend,

We’ve walked hand in hand from the beginning, hearts leading towards a wonderful new life, and as we prepared to embark on our journey, our emotions, hopes and dreams took flight.

The love-filled landscape that lies before us holds promise of treasures sure to delight, and I pray the Lord will give us years of happiness to be shared as…

When I look into your eyes, I see a place I want to be, close to you, close to your touch and feel so safe and warm. When you whisper my name, I hear the words I long for, feelings of love and understanding. I find myself lost inside you.

When we are close, I feel the touch I yearn for, your kisses, your caresses I cherish every moment. When I think of all our memories, I’ll treasure every one. Hiding them deep inside of me and I promise not to forget.

And when any differences occur between us, I’ll remember why I love you. Your gentleness and your patience. It’s then that I’ll know the foundation of our LOVE …
