Gloomy Sunday, "Szomoru Vasarnap"..ok...i happened to browse this one over the net...it's from another forum, am not the one who wrote it...it's a guy named:Naixius L ...that's his nickaname... ok here's what he wrote.... Any one hear this before? This is a movie name. This is also the movie's music name. According to urban legend, it inspired hundreds of suicides.
The songwriter, Rezso Ser-ess and his girl friend died by suicide themselves. One who hear this song will suicide themself. The song is released in 1933. In Republic of Hungary, there are 17 people hearing this song. Then, they suicided themselves by holding the disk record. People died with the record disc beside them.
The song was forbade later by the government of Republic Hungary. Even though, there are few people stealthily play this song. In Belgium, there is a person in a pub play this song again. A teenager take out his gun and pointed it to the temples. He shot himself and died there.
The cops wish to find out the truth. Hence, they send a girl cop to investigate this case. This cop buy its disc back and wish to investigate it. Unfortunately, she died after hearing the song. Cops found her posthumous papers at the scene.
Is it true? I mean is that the real song? But why did some people die after hearing it? Can I hear it since I am not interest in "love" at all?
..ive heard about it before...but i dunnow how true it is...since i haven't listen to the song personally.... ...do u have any personal opinion about this?

Did Rezso Seress actually commit suicide?Rezso Seress did indeed commit suicide, jumping from a Budapest building in 1968. This portion of the legend also appears to have been embellished, with some sources claiming that he was depressed because he'd never been able to produce another hit after "Gloomy Sunday." But theres still people/singer singing his song today. Unbelievable?Believe it... (Gosh i sound like i was in Ripley's,lol..)

bit i think, because this kind of topic always get my intention.  i think you should at-least try to hear the song first, well don't worry,i did survived right  if you afraid to hear the English version (afraid that you might understand the lyrics) then try the Hungary version, you don't really have to understand the whole song but you still can try to feel the song. its purely sad.

done listening the song...but hey...am still alive...at first..am really hesitant...really the song is quite a bit odd...like..it gives me goosebumps while listening to it...(maybe it's juz becuz of its suicidal history and all...)...i'v heard the version of billy holiday....it was also sung by Bjork and Sarah Mclachlan.... ..ive just downloaded the song using limewire....

i just listened to the rezso seress' orchestral and paul whiteman's gloomy sunday.. it's actually relaxing (the orchestral).. but it also makes me lonely.. like it's making you feel that everybody hates you, don't need you and other depressing feelings.. la la la la la la la la la la la la.. (dum dum) hehehe..

yay,at last samme already heard the song at first i was thinking why you haven't online for some quite time, now i know that you survived you also can hear the Hungary version at youtube. ....am logging-in everyday...just to check some replies and stuff...when am done...i usually logged out....how can i fail to log in..am mizzin everybody here.... well..am gonna try to hear and find the hungarian version on youtube.....i've put the song on mah playlist in multiply..i wonder if someone will notice it...since i have only 4 contacts...teehehehe...
